Dysfunctional Commandments?

This is one of the commandments used by dysfunctional groups of all kinds, though it is not always stated directly or openly. Psychiatry also uses it, sometimes defining those who refuse to co-operate with it as suffering from Oppositional Defiance Disorder, or perhaps Conduct Disorder. (that way we can get those who dare to disagree with 'authority' identifed early in life you see)

“Thou Shalt Not Be Aware”
We who are psychiatrized must agree to pretend that we do not know, what we DO know, so that those who already agreed to do that before us, without making such a big ‘fuss’ about it, like ‘we’ do, won’t have to be made to feel uncomfortable, by being forced to look at their own splitting off, in the mirror of our accurate reflections about it.

Listen to Your Mother
There once was a man who had spent a great deal of time trying to teach his son to listen to his mother when she instructed him. She did her best to teach him how to live and stay safe in life. Time after time she made sure to tell him all things he needed to know for his own well being.
If he made an ugly face she warned him, “you had better stop making ugly faces like that young man or your face is going to freeze that way!’
When he ran with a stick in his hand she cried out to him, “Stop running with a stick in your hand. You are going to poke someone’s eye out with that or perhaps even your own!”
Daily she warned him of the dangers of neglecting to change his underwear saying, “one day you are going to have to go to the hospital in an emergency and how are you going to feel when they see that dirty, raggedy underwear you have on?”

Well, time passed and the boy grew up. One day, his father picked up the phone to hear his distraught son’s voice on the other end asking for help. Where was he? His father understood as soon as he heard his son’s distraught voice. “You are at the hospital emergency in dirty underwear, with your eye poked out and a frozen face, aren’t you?

I told you to listen to your mother.
